Getting started
How do I become a zwDrive driver?
Download the zwDrive app, choose “I want to drive” and complete the five short steps: about you, your licence, your vehicle, photos & documents, then review and submit. Our team reviews every application. You can also register your interest on this site and we’ll call you to help.
What documents do I need?
Your national ID, a valid driver’s licence (with expiry date), a selfie, your number plate and four photos of your vehicle (front, rear, left, right). A defensive driving certificate is optional. Our team also verifies a ZRP police clearance certificate before you start.
How long does approval take?
It depends on how many applications are waiting and whether your photos are clear. If something needs fixing we tell you in the app and you can resubmit without starting again.
Which cities can I work in?
See the Cities page for where zwDrive operates today — it’s loaded live from the platform. If you’re somewhere else, register your interest and choose “Other”; it helps us decide where to go next.
Money
How much can I earn?
It depends on your city, the hours you’re online, demand and the fares you accept — so we don’t promise a number. The estimator on the Drive page uses the app’s live fare settings to give a rough estimate. Treat it as an estimate, not a guarantee.
Does zwDrive take a commission?
No. zwDrive is zero-commission: you keep 100% of every ride fare, parcel delivery fee and rider cancellation fee. Drivers pay one flat subscription after a free trial — that subscription is how zwDrive earns. Current plans are shown on the Drive page and in the app before you pay.
How does the subscription work?
When your application is approved your free trial starts. After that you pay one flat price for each plan period (for example weekly or monthly) with EcoCash from the app — you get a PIN prompt on your phone. It renews each period; if it lapses you can’t take new trips until you renew. The price never depends on how much you earn.
Who sets the fare?
Riders see an upfront fare based on distance. Riders can offer their price and drivers can accept or send one counter-offer, so you only take trips that make sense for you.
Safety & support
What safety features are there?
Every driver is reviewed before approval, trips are tracked live, riders and drivers can chat in the app, and there’s an SOS button for emergencies. The app reminds you before your licence expires and pauses new trips if your licence, insurance or permit has lapsed.
Is there a driver community?
Yes — the in-app driver forum groups drivers by city so you can share tips, and put forward and vote on proposals.
What happens to the details I send on this site?
We use your name, phone number, city and answers only to contact you about the opportunity you chose. Submitting the form doesn’t create an account or commit you to anything.
